ADA parking compliance & signage.
Accessible parking is federal law — and a real, everyday convenience for your customers. We lay out and mark ADA stalls, access aisles, ISA symbols, and install the signage to match.

Every commercial parking lot in the United States is required to provide a specific number of accessible parking spaces based on the total stall count — and each of those spaces has to follow strict rules on width, aisle placement, slope, signage, and symbol markings. Getting any of that wrong is a fast track to a customer complaint, a Department of Justice inquiry, or a preventable injury. We handle ADA layouts every week and know the requirements cold.
Accessible stalls and access aisles
A standard car-accessible space is at least 8 feet wide with a 5-foot access aisle, and a van-accessible space is at least 8 feet wide with an 8-foot aisle (or 11 feet wide with a 5-foot aisle). Aisles are marked with diagonal hatching so they read as no-parking zones. Two accessible spaces can share a single aisle in most layouts, which is usually the most efficient configuration for smaller lots. We measure, chalk, and paint each stall to spec using bright blue and white so the markings stay visible after months of traffic.
ISA symbols and pavement markings
The International Symbol of Access — the familiar white wheelchair icon on a blue field — has to appear in each accessible stall. We stencil it centered in the space using high-contrast paint that survives snowplows and salt. Van-accessible stalls get the additional "VAN ACCESSIBLE" pavement or sign marking so users can identify them quickly.
Signage installation
Every accessible stall also needs a vertical, reflective sign mounted so the bottom of the sign is at least 60 inches above the ground. We supply and install code-compliant signs on galvanized posts or wall-mount them where the layout allows. Van-accessible spaces get the required secondary sign. If your existing signs are faded, bent, or missing, we can replace them at the same time.
Layout audits for existing lots
Not sure if your lot is compliant? A lot of properties were laid out years ago and no longer meet current standards — stalls too narrow, missing aisles, faded ISA symbols, signs mounted too low, or the wrong ratio of accessible to standard stalls for the lot size. We can walk your lot, measure what's there, and give you a plain-English report on what's compliant and what needs to change. If corrections are needed, we can quote and schedule the work in the same visit.

Answers to common questions.
How many accessible spaces does my lot need?
The ADA sets a minimum based on total spaces: 1 accessible space for lots up to 25 stalls, 2 for 26–50, and so on. At least one of every six accessible spaces (or fraction thereof) must be van-accessible. We can calculate the exact count for your lot.
What's the difference between car-accessible and van-accessible stalls?
Both stalls are at least 8 feet wide. A car-accessible stall pairs with a 5-foot access aisle. A van-accessible stall pairs with an 8-foot aisle (or is 11 feet wide with a 5-foot aisle) and requires an added 'Van Accessible' sign.
Do I need to install new signs, or can we just repaint symbols?
You need both. The ISA pavement symbol identifies the stall at ground level, and a vertical, reflective sign is required at each accessible space. We can handle either, or both together.
What if my lot is out of compliance right now?
Most lots can be brought into compliance with a re-stripe and a few new signs — no repaving required. We'll walk you through what needs to change before we start.
